The incumbent receives, verifies and stocks the merchandise, prepares orders, packs goods and ships

Checks the condition of the merchandise once it is received material. Ensures that the quantities delivered match those on the carrier’s bill of lading. If the merchandise is damaged, writes its details on the bill of lading.

Verifies the quantities received against the packing slip. Notes any discrepancies on the packing slip and forwards that document to the person responsible for acknowledging, receiving and processing claims.

Verifies the quantities received against the purchase order.

Keeps sold material in the designated area. Places other material on shelves.

Assembles the order according to the customer order or picking slip. Informs the responsible purchasing agent of any discrepancies in the inventory.

Carefully packs the merchandise so as to be delivered to the customer in good condition.

Prepares shipping documents and coordinates the shipment of goods to the customer according to the carriers’ schedules. Ensures that the order is shipped on time in order to meet the customer's expectations.

Keeps the warehouse tidy. Ensures that the merchandise is placed in the right location. Promotes productivity and safety at work.

Operates warehouse equipment (such as forklifts, wire cutting machines, etc.) safely and efficiently, abiding by all safety rules and regulations.

Participates in the preparation and physical counting during cyclical and annual inventories.

Continuously maintains and develops technical knowledge to remain up-to-date regarding various product lines (including vendor training).

Behaves in an ethical and professional manner, thus reflecting the values of the Company.

Performs any other duties as assigned.
Technical Competencies Checklist

Establishes and/or updates fill rates, maintenance, delivery charts or other warehouse Quality Assurance charts, where applicable.

Safely operates the delivery vehicle. Maintains the company vehicle (scheduled inspections), if applicable. Also, should know the proper procedures in case of an accident or any damage to the vehicle.

Knows the delivery system (routing, rush, Purolator, etc.) with particular emphasis on “our truck” delivery including daily delivery logs. Knows how to determine which method should be used.

Recognizes material and products (types of wire, conduits, devices, boxes, switchgears, etc.). Asks questions!

Loads and unloads material efficiently, safely and without damage (lamps, palleted material, conduits, etc.).

Correctly counts boxes, bundles, etc. Recognizes damages or shortages in freight. Stocks material correctly (shelving alignment, overstock, stock rotation). Knows the proper procedures for handling non-stock and stock material. Uses better ways to do things.

Knows all warehouse closing procedures. Are all gates locked, electricity off, heating or cooling down, keys put away, security system in operation?
