Summary:

To maximize the sales and profitability of a given area of business through the development and implementation of a strategy, analysis and appropriate reaction to sales trend. Overall support of the company sales, gross margin, and turnover objectives.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute merchandise strategies consistent with the company's overall direction and mission statement
  • Establish departmental merchandising plans and direction through thorough understanding of competition and industry, and communicate effectively to organization
  • Develop and select assortment which delivers a balanced core assortment with great value, compelling seasonal presentation and key item focus
  • Develop merchandising packaging and presentation techniques that enhance productivity and execution
  • Manage vendor performance through effective negotiation and communication to maximize profitability, achieve financial objectives, and insure optimal supply chain operations
  • Work with Merchandise Analyst to insure appropriate levels of inventory and forecasts evaluating financial components based on current trend, and knowledge of future events which will impact the business
  • Work with Merchandise Planner to analyze sales, stock and all profit components by class and department to manage business trends and maximize opportunities
  • Develop and communicate visual presentation guidelines for the stores through thorough and actionable plan-o-grams and ongoing direction
  • Maintain collaborative partnerships and negotiate effectively with vendors and internal colleagues
  • Communicate effectively both in writing and orally, all pertinent direction, information and issues
  • Identify and implement new business

Skills required:

  • 3-5 years buying experience
  • Computer literate (MS Excel and Word)
  • Cbility to work independently
  • Self-motivated
  • Sound negotiation skills
  • Strong communication skill
  • Good decision-making skills
