Am I getting paid enough for a camp counselor?
Asked by compcrasher86
Hey everybody I am 16 and I just recently got a job as a counselor at a camp run by a private school (school by winter, camp by summer). I work 7.5 hours a day and my job involves supervising and entertaining campers inside and outside in hot summer sun. My boss says she is paying me $6.40/hr right now but the minimum wage is $7.15/hr or something. Should I say something, and if so, how should I do it?

You have to tell her that Minimum Wage is there for a reason - it's the law. If shes paying you less than minimum wage then she is commiting a crime and you could report her for doing such. If you confront her about it she will raise your wages, she can't fire you or you could take her to court for unfair dismissal. x

you should approach your boss and tell her that uner the law you should be making at least minimum wage. if she doesnt give you a raise, i'd look for a different job. but don't quit until you have another job lined up.
