What is better or worse, sharing an office.. or working in a cubical?

I have a choice to move into a private office at work but I would share it with another women. ( I really do not know her but she seems OK). Or I would have my own cubicle but would hear the voices of people around me.
What do you think is better, sharing a 20 by 20 feet office with one other person or having a cubicle?

I would prefer a teeny cubicle because even though having an office would be great, I need my SPACE even if it is teeny and cramped.
UGH, I just got a vision of myself sharing an office with my boss. I actually used to share a desk with him and it drove me insane because he was always looking at my computer, talking to me about random stuff and getting on my nerves.
GB is a teacher, so she shares a classroom with 18 children

I prefer to have my own cubicle than to share an office. Plus, if you don't like the person in the office, there is no way to get away from them.

Share the office, it's more private than the cubie. Everyone can here you from the cubie, at most, only 1 person will hear you in the office.

A cubical. At least you will have your own space. You may have more space in an office but you will have to share it with someone else.

it is hard to work if there's noise around. so i prefer to share an office with another fellow. who knows, she could be a good friend to you. You have to take it possitively and you'll be alright :)

i'd rather have the cubicle. i am a boundries person. my space is my space and i need to have clear set boundries for that. decide what type of person you are and make your decision.

Since I have worked in both, I prefer the office. It definetely has less noise and is more private when taking phone calls.
