How long does it take to get your lpn, then rn?
Asked by ARB0630
I'm starting community college for the first time this fall. My goal is to get my rn. The college I'm going to reserves spots in the rn program for lpns, and i'd like to have a job making decent money while I'm getting my rn .How much time would it add to my school to get my lpn, then rn as opposed to just getting my rn? This is a big decision ,thanks for any advice!

LPN is usually 2 years and RN is four. My suggestion to most is do the LPN and go back for RN. At least you can earn nursing pay for LPN while studying for RN and also gain experience. You can also talk to your admission counselor at the college, they can answer all your questions and usually give good advice. Also any nurses you know would be a great source. Good Luck!

It depends whether you get a 2yr or 4yr RN. With a 2yr you really can't get positions that require a BS ( naturally). How every long the LPN program at the CC you plan to attend, plus deciding whether you want a 2yr or 4yr RN degree.
