How do I talk to a store manager about getting a job?

I have a friend who works at blockbuster who knows they are hiring and I just recently put in an application. He told me to come in and ask the store manager about the job but I don't know what to specifically ask about. Should I just go in and say that I have put in an app and would like to talk about getting the job? I've never been good in these situations so any advice would be helpful.

Go in and ask for the manager. Tell him that you were told they were hiring and you would really like to work there. Let him know that you will be dependable and hardworking. Also try to be outgoing as that will be a needed quality when working with the public. When i am hiring i like someone who comes in and asks for the job, It usually means they really want to work.

Ok.. Wear something smart.. not a shirt and tie, but not your hoodie n shorts. The manager should be fairly obvious, cos he'd be wearing a shirt . Then just be al like: Hiya, are you the manager? Great. A friend of mine.. Jack.. you know jack? well he tells me that you guys are hiring, could you give me some information on how i go about applying? Ok there, you have name-dropped, which means he'll now go talk to jack, to see what your like, and as you're smart and polite, he may offer you an interview. If you've already put in an application form.. try: Hiya, are you the manager? Great. Jack told me that you here hiring, so i popped in an application form last week, im just wondering if anything has come of it yet. All about being confident, and smiling aswell. Oh and say your available to work weekends ;)
