Could someone tell me a little about this major? What would I be doing as a career? I want to know if it is right for me.

Networking is about devices using a medium, usually a cable or (today) wireless technology. There is a huge array of "protocols" (think of them as "generic" softwares) that are used to get computers to talk to each other. Thay are primarily implemented by the Operating system and the NIC Card. In the world of computers and servers, I would say Microsoft is king with Windows. You would need an MCSE, but today they have new kinds of certifications. In the world of "intermediary devices" (computers that concentrate computers to a single point and redirect messages: switches + Routers), Cisco is the king. They have CCNT, CCNA, CCNP and the CCIE certifications. You need all of them, computers/servers and intermediaries. In this fashion, MCSE is not better than CCNP. MCSE would tell you how windows implement networking, and CCNP would work the Operating system of intermediaries (Switches and Routers). Cabling, although discussed, is not the emphasis of networking courses. There are people who specialized in cabling. It is a science in itself. I don't know yet what certifies you to do cabling. It is hard and a little dangerous job. Cable is heavy and pass through hard to reach areas. Web Development is about designing commercial webpages. I had no idea that a BS in networking was available. Where is this?
