Honestly, I'm not sure how many jobs are available to teens that don't require a lot of interaction. It's not like we're really qualified to be lab researchers or cubicle dwellers. But here goes: 1) Stocker at a store 2) Kennel worker at a vet's office or animal shelter 3) Landscaper's assistant 4) Paper route That's about all I can think of off the top of my head. Personally, I think you should challenge yourself a little- don't try to completely seclude yourself, because you probably need to learn to handle interacting with people. That doesn't mean you have to work at Wal-Mart or McDonald's, but maybe you could try working at a smaller store where there aren't a bazillion people, but enough that you get used to being with people.
I'm pretty much the same way, but I figure that if I want a job (now or in the future), I better learn how to deal with people.

the best way to fix social awkwardness IS to be right in the middle of interactions i myself am a cashier, a teen, shy, AND it has really helped me be less shy. P.S.- i am 16 too

maybe as a cook so you can stay in the kitchen and not have to wait on tables, or a newspaper route.

How about working in a restaurant in the kitchen area? This would definitely limit your outside contact to the customers. I don't know what your skills are or if you would even qualify because of your age, but being a cook or dishwasher might be something for you to look at.

I agree with blah. I was so painfully shy and awkward in social situations in high school.. but working in retail as a cashier and customer service forced me to get over it. Guess what I do now? Yeah... I work in HR. Ha!

This is easy. i work at Tandy and i chose it becasue it is a small out of the way shop, so it is fairly quite... I had the same problem with people. On my first day i fainted (blacked out for 5-10 minutes)and was rushed to Hornsby hospital so i was pretty embarrassed, but it helped me get over my fear. So now i feel more confident.
