if you have a certificate for medical assistant and never worked as one, do you have to go back to school?

i got my certificate back in 1989 and want to know if i have to take the whole course again. i never really worked as a medical assistant and recently got my certification as a phlebotomy tech.

Depends on your state. You may just have to pay the fees to go take the test again. Because there are alot of medical advancments you may have to take the whole course again. Go to your local community college and find out. Every state is different and some places will even hire you and get you on the job traning. usually if you dont work for over 2 years you have to renew your certificate.
