Is it appropriate to have a resume printed in landscape orientation instead of portrait?
Asked by P W
After working numerous jobs and schooling since I was 16 (im 24 now) my resume is it getting very lengthy. It is hard to fit everything on 1 page! So I think I can get more in landscape view. Is that cool with employers?

I have received a lot of resumes and never seen one done in portrait. It would catch my eye, and that is What your trying to do.

I wouldn't accept or reject a candidate based on that, but I would notice it, and I would think it odd (and not odd in the "quirky and interesting" way), I think I'd probably figure that the person submitting that resume didn't know how to adjust their printer settings properly.

It would be very unusual, but wouldn't change my mind about the applicant. I'd venture it would be more appropriate if it was a position which required some graphic or design type skills. I'd suggest being brief and concise when describing your previous responsibilities instead. You can always count on the interviewer to ask you to expound on your job history anyways, so you don't want to be repeating yourself verbally from what is written on your resume. good luck!

I doubt traditional industries (banking, engineering, etc.) would appreciate this format - maybe some creative employers, but not most.
