Desiree M
what education and certification does becoming a physician's assistant require in CA?
Asked by Desiree M
I am looking into what it takes to becoming a physician's assistant. I need to know what education, training, and certification it takes to do this. I live in southern CA (san diego). Is there a link somewhere that I can look this up? I did not find one.

There are 10 accredited primary care physician assistant programs in California and 137 accredited programs throughout the country, most of which require 24-48 months to complete. Many programs require applicants to have completed two years of college prior to admission and to have previous health care experience. Later on, if you'll want to make even more money, you can specialize: Other California programs additionally offer postgraduate training in orthopedic and cardiothoracic surgery. Click on the link below (great website) for more info on the examination, certification, & licensure.
