If you go to school, it'll help you easy to look for a job in future. For me, go to school for medical secretary is waste money because it's cost you as a medical assistant or little lower, so why don't you go to school for medical assistant (my opp)
I went to school for medical assistant and now I got a job for medical secretary and I also do a medical assitant.
If you have medical assitant certificate, you can work for medical secretary. In opposite, they don't hired you for medical assistant if you only have medical secretary certificate. Good luck

Qualified medical secretaries are as rare as hen's teeth. I have been a medical secretary for over 30 years and have the AMSPAR Diploma (Assoc. of Medical Secretaries, Practice Managers and Receptionists) - a bit of a mouthful. Today any secretary with an AMSPAR qualification would definitely be one step ahead at a job interview. This qualification can be gained through day release while working in a hospital environment. On the other hand, nothing beats experience, especially with the medical terminology. Good luck.
