What can I do with a psychology bachelors and six months of retail management experience?
Asked by MLeinart7
I'd like to get out of retail (but I am getting paid well for what I do, close to 40k a year). But I can't handle the hours and the lack of weekends off, etc. For now I am tolerating it, but i'd like to have some ideas of what i can do with this. Do I really need a year to get out of it (so that I can actually put it on my resume) or should I start looking now and cross my fingers?

There are so many things you could do! I work in management for Starbucks and I love it. It pays well- probably significantly more than you make now, but it varies by city, the mission statement is something you can believe in and you can't beat the benefits package. If that doesn't interest you, think about teaching high school business or psychology. You could also do philanthropic work like drug counseling, or even work as a Loss Prevention Manager of a large retailer. You have lots of options. Have fun exploring them!

Hi again. OK, really, you really, really need to read, "What Color is Your Parachute." It's one of the best selling books of all time, and it's been around for 30 years, but it's updated every year. I guarantee the library will have a copy, as will any good bookstore. Reading it will tell you the answer to all your questions about work. I mean it. You've been asking the same questions week after week, but it seems like you don't really do anything about your concerns. You don't seem to have any motion, just asking over and over again and periodically considering school. Really, read this book, it will tell you what you need to know.
