I am not an Actuary, but if you are interested in the area I suggest that you explore it. I had a strong interest in the area; but is was always secondary to my other interest. It was and I assume that it still is considered one of the top jobs to have in the US. SOA site provide a education page with list of schools with introductory undergraduate , advance undergraduate and graduate level education actuary programs. . Although you can get a job without being certificated this is one field where certification is important. http://www.soa.org/education/resources/actuarial-programs/actuarial-college-listings/graduate-education-and-research/graduate-education-and-research-details.aspx
