I have a BS in Electronic Engineering Technology. Now I'm a karaoke host. There is no guarantees about getting a job anymore, whether you get a degree or do a trade school. If you want to do something you must have a degree for, like teaching, go for it. If you just need a job, trades can be far more lucrative.

a college degree, because a trade skill can only get you one job where as a degree can open more doors and it has a higher degree of respect

In todays world with everything being outsourced....I'd go with a trade. Electrician, Plumber.,..they make great money and they will never be outsourced. I have a degree in accounting...which is working out for me but I see a lot of co-workers who are losing there jobs to India...everything gets outsourced to india!!!

trade skill...then go to college and expand your skill for it. I know about 5 people that are 30 and still in college going nowhere because they change what they want to do every week, I doubt they will be able to make it in the real world when they have to start working full time since they have been weened through college by their parents...

many of my friends went to a 4 year college. most of them still have no ideas what to do with their lives, and lots of their degrees are useless. the people i know that went to trade schools got good paying jobs right away, and seem to have a better idea of what they are going to do with their lives.

depends what you want to get into. Trade skills get you into one specialized job where as college degrees can be applied in many different areas.

In this country you would be better going for a Trade skill. College degrees do not guarantee work at the end of it. Sad but true. ( Britain)

A:
College Degree. It is to hard to get a good job without one. Unless your trade skill is something you've been doing since you were a kid like farming or construction. Then you can still go to college and build on it!

COLLEGE DEGREE. It's going to be easier to get into the groove of college life out of high school than it is when you're older. (I can tell you this from personal experience.) Trade schools often have a mixed age or older population so it doesn't quite have the social intensity of college. Best of luck.

A:
I would choose the college degree, as trade school is just usually an AA and a bachelors is deifenatly the new Hs Diploma. Most employers would like to see you have that college degree and then get the expereince somewhere. Trade schools would be better for short term goals and would need to be built upon by the college degree.

You will make more money from a trade school but you will have to work long and hard hours. You may be on call also. A college degree wont guarantee you a lot of money but it will guarantee you an easy job in an air conditioned building sitting in a cushy chair 9 - 5 Mon - Fri with paid holidays.

A:
I would only choose a trade skill over a college degree if I knew exactly what I wanted to do, if there were job openings in that area, and if I knew that I would like work in that particular trade. If all I wanted to be in life was a dental hygienist, then I would take the two years of school to do that. If I wanted more than just a minimum wage job, I'd go for the college degree.

college degree, but if your heart not in it, it doesn't matter what we all say, because if you enroll in college, and your heart not in it, then you'll wasting your time, so maybe a trade will be something better for you. You need to map out a plan and have some kind of direction for both trade skill or college degree. It just need to be something you are happy with, plus I know people with both, something depend on the trade make more money then some people with college degrees. whichever them your interest and will make you happy.
