A:
The European Working Time Directive applies. You are entitled to a minimum 20 minutes break away from the work area for each 6 hours of work. There is however no duty placed upon the employer to pay staff during break periods. An employer can therefore get you to work for 6 hours then end your shift without any obligation being placed upon himself. Sorry.

A:
By law you should have a 15 minute break after 4 hours , irrespective of your age.

I don't know about the uk, but in the U.S. you are required to have a break after 2 hours. In an 8 hour shift you get at least a half hour lunch and two fifteen minute breaks. For a six hour shift, you don't get a lunch but you should have gotten a break. P.S. Anyone working in the U.S. for eight hours and aren't getting two fifteen minute breaks and a lunch are being played!

in most states that is actually illegal and can result in heavy fines for the employer in the uk i have no idea im gonna search it now ok here is what i found....good luck Protection at work Employment laws even provide us with protection from things like discrimination during an interview. An employer can get into trouble if they do not consider you for a job because of sex, race, disability, religion or belief or sexual orientation. In some cases, your rights as employee at a firm increase the longer you work there. Many employees in the UK are protected by Working Time Regulations. These are in place to stop employers making us work for unreasonable periods of time during the day, week or year. Regulations include: A minimum of four weeks paid holiday a year. Employees working for more than six hours are entitled to a 20 minute break. Employees aged 16 to 18 and working more than four hours are entitled to a 30 minute rest break. Employees can work for a maximum of 48 hours per week (unless the employee agrees to work longer hours).

A:
I was under the impression that if you were entitled to a ten minuit break for every four hours you worked. so you can have a cup of tea, have a smoke, or a visit to the toilet.so at least you should have a ten minuit break after the first two hours. six hours without a visit to the loo or a cuppa no I don't think so, but good luck if there is a shortage of work in your area, it's really up to you
Answered by alex winefly

A:
This is illegal. People aged 16 and 17 must be given a break of 30 minutes after they have worked for four and a half hours. Whereas people aged 18 or over are entitled to a 20 minute break after 6 hours work. Your employer doesn't have to pay you for the break.

A:
Depends on what state you live in. I live in Arizona and up to 6 hours without a break is legal. Anything over 6 hours and you are alloted atleast a 30 min lunch break. 8 hours and over you are alloted 1 hours of breaks/lunch.
