How do I become a Project Manager?

Hey everyone,
How does one become a Project Manager?
I currently working as an IT technician and doing an Open University degree in Information and Communication Technologies. What is the next step for me to take in regards to experience, jobs and qualifications?

If you are looking at being a project manager a Prince2 course is the norm nowadays.

talk to someone through the OU, they have a good support network and can advise you as to what path you should try and take next....good luck
