If you were forced to learn Spanish, would you agree to it?

If your job posted you in a rural American town which is full of Hispanics & no English speakers - would you work in that town & learn Spanish so as to interact with the locals?

I was forced to learn English when I was a baby and now that's all I speak. I would love to learn Spanish if it meant I could communicate with more people.

I already speak both English and Spanish (although Spanish is not my native or family language), so its of no consequence to me...so what are you really asking?

If that’s my only choice for a livelihood, I think I’d have to. However, I took classes in high school and college so I’m not freaked out by the prospect.

Yes, I think learning a second language is important anyway. Most other countries make their citizens learn a second language why not Americans? Spanish is actually really fun. I can do it and get my point across but I tend to make them laugh when I speak. Most likely because I start the conversation with 'I'm sorry. My Spanish is very bad" in Spanish of course.

Well, I don't like to be forced to do anything but in my town I wish I had taken Spanish instead of Japanese in high school LOL. I would definately recommend if the opportunity arose to learn another language came up to take advantage of it!
