I was a no call, no show at work today. What should I tell them?
Asked by Ryan M
I was a no call, no show today, because I got into a car accident on my way home from my girlfriends. I jarred my neck really bad, went back to her place rested and totally forgot to call work before my shift started.
Now its like seven hours later and I need to call them. Problem is, I feel bad that I forgot. My neck still hurts and I don't really want to work tommorow. What should I do?

If you were in a car wreak then you should have gotten someone else to call them. Unless you had head trama or your a crackhead I can't see why you would forget that you had to go to work. Call them maybe they will understand, call out tomorrow, grow a set!

Just call them and tell them what happened. Be honest and tell them your in too much pain to go to work. If you don't do that sorta thing alot then you should be okay. If you have any proof like a police report or if you can somehow prove to them your car is actualy wrecked you should be fine.

Tell them just that. They May/may may not let you get away with it this time. even if they dont fire you you're now on the "crap list" & the next time you DO make a mistake (however slight) they will fire you. So as of now they're looking at applications of possible replacements for you.
Take it from someone whos been fried from every job they ever had. I just go to school for something else when i burn one career out then you can say "I'm fresh outta school". Then someone will hire you again.

Man up and tell them what happened. What else can you do? Most places no call, no show , means getting fired. I'm not sure what your companys policy is. I would go to the emergency and get documentation what happened to you.

Go to your doctor because you need to anyways and get the doctor to give you a note. I have been in a similar situation and your employer can not legally fire you for that.

It's not like you were at a party. The truth of what happened to you is legitimate enough. Just tell them what happened and I'm sure they'll understand. Just say that you were in a lot of pain and went to your girlfriend's and you were going to call from there, but you fell asleep after all that stress. Apologize for not having called, but don't make it sound like you just blew it off. B/c it doessn't sound like you did. Just tell your story exactly as you told it here. If I were your boss, I would totally understand and would be glad you were OK rather than upset that you didn't call. Good luck and I hope you feel better too.

Call as soon as you can. Tell them you were injured in a car accident and will not be in tomorrow. That's all you need to tell them. Don't mention that you're not at your own home. For job purposes, your girlfriends place is your home, too. I was in an accident, and I know, you forget things (especially work!).

Call and explain. Don't be afraid. They'll understand, unless you have an a** for a boss Not calling makes it look like you just ditched, go to the doctors and get a doctors note to prove it, or even a parent to verify it for you, but honestly, call, it'll look super bad on you if you don't, make it look like you're irresponsible and unreliable. And tell them you aren't able to work tomorrow, a double no-show-no-call = no-job-no-money. If you have damages, even better! BUT CALL!! you'll regret it if you don't. And really go see the doctor.

For an emergency like that, I'm sure they would understand. Call your manager right away and get a doctor's note from the ER doctor if you can.

If you got into a car accident there's got to be a police report. Show that to them. You call them NOW and tell them what happened. Tell them that you are still not feeling well and would like tomorrow off. I hope you are not making this up because that is a bad thing to do to miss work without calling. You might lose your job because of that.

Honesty is the best policy. You call and tell them the truth, always tell you prospect employer the truth and you will go a long way. Let he or she know how bad you feel, because if you haven't made a habit of taking off from work, you honesty will go along way with them. They will appreciate you honesty.
