Should I be an armed security officer?
Asked by robert f
I love being an unarmed security officer. My biweekly paychecks are not big enough. I am thinking of becoming a messenger. When I was young, I did not like guns. Personally, I like the idea of protecting an armored vehicle from criminals.

sure, go for it.
armed guard is relatively low pay for high danger though, less than cop's pay.

Yes I would suggest you do it. Then maybe you can go on to be a Cop. I love it. I am a reserve Sheriff and I spend the rest of my time traveling. Check me out sometime. I can help you to vacation like I do. Check out my site... www.vacationintowealth.com

I say go for it. Your a security officer because you love excitment. You need a gun because sometimes that excitement involves being shot at.

There's lots of different directions you can take that don't include guns if you like the security field - like security analysis (the people who make security plans/protocol for companies), security control operators, unarmed escorts, etc.
I worked as a security officer for a pretty large, high-tech company and eventually got promoted to the control center, monitoring cameras, badges, etc, it was all pretty high tech and fun since they had a large security budget and I liked it a lot better than just doing routine checks and walking around, etc. Someone I worked with used to escort trucks full of computer equipment (millions of dollars worth of stuff), and she basically would drive with them in a separate vehicle and watch for tails, etc. It sounded like she did pretty well for herself doing that.

Being a armed security officer is not all that well paid job, for the amount of work that you have to do, and remember that you have boys off 14 & 15 going around with guns and they are not worred if they use them, I would thinkl again if was you.
