What other career options for real estate professionals when things are dead?

I've been out of work for quite a few months. I was in mortgage banking, but I'm unable to find a job in any other field because of many years in this line of work, all the jobs for loan officers are commission based and can't do it any more do to the fact that lenders got tougher. Any suggestions? I need something soon. (no sales) Thanks
