Sharlene J
is it illegal to work on salary in a manufacturing job?
Asked by Sharlene J
My boyfriend was told that it is illegal for him to keep the salary that he had in his last position, which was production manager, now he is warehouse manager and they want him to be on the clock again. Anyone heard of a law to this effect?

Many jobs are salaried instead of hourly.... Mostly jobs that require some sort of skill or upper Management tend to be salaried. It just depends on company policies. If being paid hourly will give him a comparable wage then he shouldn't have a problem with it Another advantage to being hourly paid, if you work overtime he most likely will bet overtime pay and holiday pay. Some salaried jobs pay overtime but most don't. And never holiday pay. It most likely has to do with company policy that warehouse manager has alwatys been hourly paid but the production manager salaried. But telling it was illegal is misleading, it's more like just company policy or if it's a Unionized company in the Union contract.
