I dont know how to chose a career.. farming or go to university for something in childcare-social work????
Asked by mathma2
I was raised on a farm and I love the farming lifestyle, I have 2 young children whom i want to be a stay at home mother to but I need to figure out what I am going to do with the rest of my life and how I am going to make an income.. I don't think looking after children out of my home is a good option for me right now. I have considered going to university to become a social service worker.. but am afraid that I will still miss the farming lifestyle and then i'll just have a stressfull job and lots of student loans... any advice or anyone in a smiliar situation????

You might want to consider a career that allows you to do both (4-H for example - I'm talking program administration not volunteer). You could go for a BSW (social work) and minor in ag or ag ed. It is always possible to have it all if you want it. DA

It is a very hard choice, I am a single mother of a four year old boy, I recently left a lousy job and decided to go back to school myself. The best thing I could tell you is, do what you think is best for your family. Social Work is a hard, stressfull career but it can also be very rewarding. It may also show your kids that you can help someone, and that there is all kinds of people out there. You can also have the farming lifestyle you want on the weekends as a stress reliever and a way to get away from it all.
