Asked by *♥* ♥* FaeGoddess*♥*♥*
My son has a report due on a possible field he would like to get into as an adult & he has picked carpentry. What we still dont know is what level of education and/or training is required to be successfull & profitable in the field? IE: what type of college course would he need to attend? What degrees/certifications/ etc are needed or looked favorably upon in this field?? Any & all info is appreciated as the more thorough his repor t obviously the betterhis grade! Thanks in advance!!

Best Answer:
Most carpenters learn their trade through apprenticeship programs. Carpenters unions may offer apprenticeship opportunities. Another source of training, if you're low income and the son is late teens or early twenties is Job Corps. Some community colleges offer welding and other trades. Perhaps some offer carpentry, too.

You do not go to college to become a carpenter----there are instead trade-schools-----
