Should drug testing be mandatory for heavy equipment operators, surgeons, nurses, etc?

Should drug testing mandatory for surgeons, nurses, heavy equipment operators? If so, why? If not, why?

I believe they should be. I personally wouldn't want anyone working with heavy equipment, anyone doing surgery on me or any nurse performing their duties to be all drugged up! I prefer them to have a clear head! Mistakes can happen but the chances of mistakes happening when someone is under the influence of drugs or that has had damage done by use of drugs the risk of something bad happening goes up. Trust me I have seen many friends do stupid things while high on various drugs... it isn't pretty.

Absolutely. Anyone who is operating heavy machinery or who is using tools and such on people's body should be in the condition to do so, and should not be connected with narcotics in any way. I certainly don't want a surgeon working on me who's high as a kite...

Yes, the measure and quality of the drugs they're taking should be monitored for quality control.
Or else they might take an overdose!
MOST ESPECIALLY someone who's operating heavy equipment in an operating room!

First of all, I believe that drug tests should be mandatory for all senators, congressmen, all judges and their staff, all district attorneys and their staff, all federal employees and public employees. Of course for Doctors, nurses, medics, firemen....you don't want no one serving you, or working on you who is all stoned out of their gourd.

I think mandatory and random drug screening should be in every workplace, period. I personally have been hurt on the job because a person who was operating an electric pallet jack wasnt paying attention correctly, and ended up pinning me up against the pallet he was moving and the wall. That hurt very badly, and I could have been seriously injured. Luckily I was just sore and bruised like I just took a beating, but I was still able to work.
The reason the guy wasnt paying attention correctly was because he was under the influence of weed and alcohol. Now if you are talking about what they do in their own spare time and they always come to work sober as a nun, then hey I say its your own life and you should be able to do what you want in the privacy of your own home.
However the reason they hold drug screenings is because the statistic goes that a person who uses drugs, even if they have never used them outside of their home, will eventually give in to their habit while working, and when that happens, bad things happen to other people.
For the same reason that if you wanted to be a police officer or an agent for the government, that kind of work, they do an extensive background check on you and your family. If you have or have had bad credit, bankruptcy and stuff like that, you can be denied because they may feel that you might give in to an urge of taking money or bribs. If your family has a past of sexual abuse, you can be denied because you could end up either abusing someone sexually because you are given "power", or you might get caught up in the pain you went through as a child and kill someone when you should be arresting them.
The list pretty much goes on, but I am sure you get my point.

For sure I am a heavy equipment operator and if I am on a site with another heo perosn or anyone for that fact I want them clean and sober cause in a way my life is in there hands operating mulity ton equipment. Plus the contractor has put his neck and the companies for someone who is a user to go and mess anything up
