Tattoo artistry?

In becoming a tattoo artist, how do you make money? Do you get directly paid to for the tattoo you give and then you just pay rent to the store you are using? do you have to pay for your materials as well? Does the amount of money you make enough? Also, can someone refuse payment if they don't like the tattoo you have given? Can they sue you as well? haha i'm just trying to see if being a tattoo artist is what i really want. I'm really interested in the carreer and i just want to make sure it's what i want to do. Hopefully you can help me?

It depends what you want. You could work out of a shop and papy fees or hourly or get your own equipment and have your own thing. I'm not positive but I believe there are waivers in place to protect from getting sued. Absolutly you can make tons of cash if your good. Watch out for the biker scene tho, they are big tattoo lovers and have the cash but getting into there world isn/t a great thing so do be careful and goood luck!

Those are a lot of good questions about tattooing! My brother was going to open his own shop and went to jail, the day before his grand opening, I will try to answer--If you are working for a store or shop, you would probably pay rent like a beautician would, IF you were renting booth space, if you had your own clients. If you were working for the shop, you would probably,be paid an hourly or weekly wage. Paying for your materials is something that you would have to decide on with the question of whether or not you pay rent or if you are working for the shop owner.

in this industry it is very common to be paid on a commission basis, per piece of work..if this is the case rent, utilities disposables are paid for you, you usually own your own machine... where i work all work is paid for in advance and a wavier is signed to protect our artists. if being paid on commission it can be very lucrative in busy season ...mid-summer tax season and very hard to make ends meet in the dead of winter....then again there are shops that you rent from... you pay for supplies, disposables, rent . utilities..and keep all profit...it depends on the area you are in in...hope this helps
