I have training, but no paid experience in cable installation. Any ideas on how to get into the industry?
Asked by Deep Depths
I recentely completed a course at BICSI for Installer 1. Passed the exam and now I am looking to gain the experience with the interest of eventually being able to design the backbone infrastructure being placed in buildings.

Go DTV.com and apply for a installer job. They are in great need. Allover the country. it's somewhat different from cable but, pays better and you can do it.

Some companies will send you out with other installers. Look into that

Designing infrastructures and installing are not the same thing. Designer doesn't even need to have installation experience. You need to get a degree in structural engineering. If you are looking to lay cable, as you were trained, there are a ton of jobs out there. Call any of the communication companies and ask for HR.
