Waiter. You can explore the world, go on a voyage, see exciting places, and do adrenaline pumping activities. I absolutely loved it! I was a waiter for my first job but I ended up having it for 6 years because it was so fun. You should stop stereotyping, because whatever you don't explore, means you don't know.

I'd say volunteer work, if u'r not looking for a paying summer job...
But if u'r looking for a paying job, I'd recommend that u stay away from fast-food places (personal experience)
Places such as clothing stores, electronics, etc. should be fun :)
♥Good Luck

The best summer jobs prove to be ones that you can call "seasonal". This would include your snowball stands, lifeguard positions, amusement park jobs, camp counselors, etc. Anything that you can make clear to your employer that you would want to do for the summer only. Ask around and look in community papers and things. One thing you won't want to do is take your time...from past experience summer jobs get taken quickly.

Odd jobs for people...figure out what you can do the best...list them on a sheet of paper...then turn all this into a nice looking flier..then post it and your telephone number in various places...stores/laundry mats/gas stations/librarys/theaters,etc.
It is like having your own business. I guess it depends on just how ambitious and serious you really are. May God Bless

A past summer job experiance I enjoyed was one that my local school district offered. It allowed me to go to a school and learn different trades all the while getting paid. It was in a camp setting however.
So if your local school district or county/city offers a program like this, look into it.

If you live near a place where a lot of youths gather to swim everyday it would be a perfect job. You can work selling refreshments or become a Jr. Lifegaurd or something. If you don't have that option then you may want to get a job at a fast food place that is popular in your area.

A great summer job includes something you are interested in, for example there is no sense being a life guard if you hate sitting still or swimming.

The best job I ever had was a camp counselor. I did it for years before I got a full time job. I used to teach sailing, water skiing, and rock climbing. I got to go out every night with other counselors. We always got to have summer romances. Then as I got older I got the cooler positions in camp. My last year as a counselor I ran an adventure program. I traveled all over the US in a van and went rock climbing, white water rafting, caving, backpacking, and kayaking! All expenses paid vacation for like three months!! The kids I worked with were 14 or 15 so it wasn't like babysitting anymore and they had to help with all the work like collecting wood for campfires and cooking. I still miss that job.
I have included one website that has a summer camp directory so you can find camps in your area. There are lots of camps to check out though. Make sure they are ASA certified! That is the American Camping Association. It is a sign of a quality camp.

A great summer job is going to be something that relates to the types of things that you like to do, as well as a job that would teach you some skills that you will be able to use when you begin working full time.
Some people like working at a zoo or a water park. They learn customer service skills, sales techniques, and how to speak to customers.
Other people might think that working at a clothing store might be fun because they think they know something about fashion. It still teaches you about how to relate to the public, as well as how the fashiion industry works, as well as some sales experience.
Perosnally,
I have had several summer jobs,
repairing outboard boat motors
pumping gas at a marina
working the cash register at my grandparents grocery store
working for a contractor as a laborer
working for a bank as a software tester.
Write down a list of things you like to do, both working outside or inside. Remember that is you work outside you may have to work outside for 8 hours a day. Some people cant do this, depending on what part of the country they live in.
Good Luck.

I worked as a camp counselor. Loved it. it was a day camp tho.
Then I worked in the childrens room at the library. Loved that too.
But then again, I wanted to be a teacher so I based most of my jobs around kids. Babysitting, camp, library, community house where I helped teach a cooking class for kids. it was fun. it depends on what you like to do. some kids work in a pizza place.
